“ My fondest memory is my trip to Maine with Prof. Connaughton. Every other summer he would take a group of students to Mount Desert Island for a short summer class. It was so much fun and absolutely beautiful. ”
How has Washington College contributed to the person you are?
Washington College helped me build the foundation I needed to pursue my medical degree. In addition to getting all of my pre-med requisites under my belt, I learned how to think critically rather than be a person who just memorizes the facts. Taking Prof. Krochmal's comparative vertebrate anatomy class taught me more than I could have ever expected from just basic anatomy. Additionally, the evolution seminar by Prof. Connaughton was beneficial. I think this set me apart from other premedical applicants.
If you were a Washington College student today, what would you be sure to pursue or take advantage of?
I would definitely take advantage of the opportunities that allow you to work one-on-one or in small groups with each professor. They have so much amazing advice and knowledge to bestow. I still keep in touch with some of my professors, and they have been amazing sources of support in my career.
