“ My fondest memory is walking across the stage at graduation, knowing that I had completed my goal. I lost a close friend of mine, Aubrey Hicks, to a car accident in 2010, and I made a promise to finish college and create my own success for her. I gained an education from a school that I had always admired, and I learned to live life how I wanted, just as Aubrey would have done. ”
How has Washington College contributed to the person you are?
Washington College expanded my thinking and my personality more than I could have imagined. I learned to overcome adversity with curiosity, I developed relationships that gave me new perspectives on life, and I strengthened my ability to grow professionally and personally. Most important of all, WAC instilled a drive for me to give back to my community. Every step I take is with that goal in mind.
If you were a Washington College student today, what would you be sure to pursue or take advantage of?
If I could be a Washington College student today, I would take full advantage of everything the environmental studies program has to offer. The Eastern Shore and WAC both have so many opportunities to learn about the environment and make a positive impact on it. There are tons of organizations to work with and support. I love business, so I would definitely double major in both areas to start my own organization based on environmental opportunities.
